Inclusive Special Program Service for incarcerated woman

Reentry into society after being released from prison can be difficult when employers, apartment complexes, and low-income housing sometimes refuse to take in ex-felons. In addition to struggles paying for food, clothing, and shelter, inmates who are released back into the community can leave prison with improper education, a destabilized family, low feelings of self-worth, and little hope for a positive future.

Gina's Team is an advocate for this forgotten population. Our programs focus on inmate personal growth and self-empowerment. Graduates of the Gina's Team program have a return rate of less than 10%.  At Gina's Team we know education can be the difference in a productive future.

Our program was developed in house by members of Gian's Team board of directors. It teaches self-exploration, inner strength, forgiving self and others, collaboration, and being all you can be. This is done over 6 weeks, one night a week. 

In between our 6 week sessions, Gina's Team hold's once a month "Check In" sessions. Generally led by Billie Fidlin, there is a brief review of an aspect of our curriculum, followed by a guest speaker. Speakers are community leaders from a variety of content areas such as housing, re-entry, music and the value of physical fitness while incarcerated.

These programs are provided to the prison at no cost and done with dedicated community volunteers and fully supported by tax deductible donations. 

Gina's Team continues connection with women who are in re-entry, through both penpal work before and after incarcertaion, as well as our participation at The Village. The Village meets the first Saturday of the month and is a place where former inmates, family members, and allies can network and hear presentations that will help ensure their re-entry success.
